Supporting my immunity during COVID-19

I want to share with you what I am personally doing to protect myself and my family. I hope you will find this useful and it'll help you to stay healthy during this surreal time.

As a preventative measure, I am doing my best to strengthen my immune system. Even if there is a chance to contract COVID-19, as long as the immune system is strong, the symptoms may be mild and manageable.

This is what I personally take and do (in no particular order) :
  • Immunitone Plus - Herbal formula that is designed to support healthy immune system function. This formula has similar components to the popular Chinse formula (Yu Ping Feng San). It fortifies the anti-pathogenic qi against the exterior. This powerful immune supportive formula combines herbs that have antiviral and antibacterial abilities.
  • Vitamin C - Antioxidant that stimulates the production and function of white blood cells, the so-called soldiers of our body, that kill foreign pathogens and provide protection from diseases and infections by producing important antibodies for healthy immune system response.
  • Vitamin D3 - Has direct anti-viral effects, particularly against enveloped viruses. It can help reduce the risk of respiratory infections. I prefer it in the liquid form for better bioavailability. I wouldn't recommend taking more than 2000 UI per day. Excess of vitamin D can lead to high blood pressure, cause nausea and vomiting, weakness, frequent urination and kidney damage.
  • Zinc - it plays an important role in immunity and is also an anti-inflammatory agent. It has shown a decreased incidence of infections and decreased generation of inflammatory cytokines. It may also stop the rhinovirus from lodging in the mucous membranes of the throat and nose.
  • Pure Silver - Silver particle small enough to enter a single red blood cell and inactivate viruses at the cellular level by killing drug-resistant bacterial strains to inhibiting viral replication as well as stimulating stem cell production.
  • Diet
    • Incorporate acrid, warm foods to supplement the lung qi: Asparagus, carrots, cauliflower, daikon, leeks, onions, mushrooms, mustard, greens, olives, radish, sweet potato, water chestnuts, yams, grapes, pears, peaches, tangerines, black beans, garbanzo beans, beef, chicken, duck, goose, quail, rabbit, tuna, almonds, walnuts, oats, rice, sweet rice, garlic, ginger, thyme, fermented food/probiotics.
    • Foods to avoid: Sweet food, refined sugar, cold foods like ice cream or smoothies, ice water, salads, raw vegetables, dairy, tofu, wheat, fatty, oily, greasy foods, alcohol, coffee, cigarettes.
  • Exercise - Do more cardio if you can. We need strong lungs now!
  • Meditate - A lot of us need to adjust to a new lifestyle, this comes with building new routines and adapting to new environments. We need a strong mind to be able to adapt.
  • Lung and immune system strengthening - Daily sessions of medical self-healing exercises such as those found in yoga and Qigong.

Be Well.
